Background and Expertise

SpacewardBound NZ builds on the original Spaceward Bound model developed at NASA Ames Research Center, where teachers and scientists worked together in field-based expeditions.

In Aotearoa, this has evolved into a programme supporting both students and teachers through classroom experiences, field trips, and professional learning. Since 2015, we have worked with schools across the country, delivered teacher workshops and seminars, and collaborated with international scientists, including through NZ Astrobiology Network initiatives.

Why Spacewardbound NZ?

  • Delivered nationwide since 2015
  • Programmes tailored to NZ schools
  • Hands-on, immersive learning
  • Combines science, teamwork, and exploration
  • We come to your school
